Historic Elsah Foundation is assisting the Village of Elsah in the restoration project of the bell that was atop the Village Hall for more than a century. The Village Hall now serves as the Village of Elsah Museum. This project includes repair work on the bell itself and a stand at ground-level to display the bell safely and prominently. The original location of the bell may be seen in the photo on this page.

History of Village Hall
After Elsah incorporated in 1873, several buildings served as meeting places for village government, including the Ice House ruin at 2 Mill Street. In 1887, this building was built to serve as the Village Hall, the center of village government. It was constructed by Stephen Tyler and John Reintges for $645. Now, it houses the Village of Elsah Museum, open seasonally on weekends.
